Momentous and The DOD - Phase II SBIR Contract
Posted by Neal Didonna on

Park City, UT – Momentous recently completed a $1.5 million research contract with the United States Air Force (USAF) AFWERX Program. This Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract allowed Momentous to investigate and validate a meaningful intervention to mitigate dehydration in USAF pilots and aircrew; the use of PR Lotion. Momentous worked closely with the 1st Special Operations Wing, USAF to determine current hydration practices and the barriers to proper hydration with the goal of understanding tactical dehydration. Missions, mixed gender aircrews, tight quarters, uniforms, gear, and discouraging/no restroom facilities on the aircraft all contribute to the practice...
What a New Study Says About Using PR Lotion to Train Harder for Longer
Posted by Sara Hendershot on

There’s a significant amount of research spanning five decades that shows the performance and recovery benefits of oral sodium bicarbonate supplementation. Unfortunately, there are also significant downsides, including bloating, stomach cramping, and other GI issues. This is why a product like PR Lotion – which delivers bicarb to your muscles through your skin has become a go-to choice for pro, college, and recreational athletes alike. Supplementing transdermally gives you all of the pluses of oral bicarb without the minuses. Now there’s new research to back this up, which is what this article is all about. In a recently released paper,...
New UCONN Study Shows How PR Lotion Keeps You Hydrated in Heat and Humidity
Posted by Sara Hendershot on

That was the conclusion of a recent study conducted by Dr. Robert Huggins and his colleagues at the University of Connecticut’s Korey Stringer Institute (KSI). In this article, he comments on the key takeaways from this research and looks ahead to what’s next in sodium bicarbonate studies. The Korey Stringer Institute was established to commemorate the life and legacy of its...

Why Sodium Bicarbonate Will Speed Your Recovery
Posted by Mackenzie Lynch on

There are dozens of different supplements on the market, but according to a position paper by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), there are five kinds that have an abundance of evidence-based efficacy to warrant recommendation for use by athletes.[1] Most athletes and coaches are at least somewhat familiar with the first four: the stimulant effects of caffeine, how creatine supports the ATP-CP energy system, why nitrates act as a vasodilator, and how beta alanine helps maintain pH in muscles. But despite having been studied for over 50 years, less understand the performance and recovery benefits of supplemental sodium bicarbonate. That’s...
