As the team dietitian for the Miami Dolphins, Mary Ellen was the NFL’s first female full-time team nutritionist. During her time with the Dolphins she worked closely with athletes to optimize performance and health. Before joining the Dolphins, Mary served four years as the head sports nutritionist at the University of North Carolina, where she worked closely with UNC’s varsity athletic program, providing sports nutrition education, menu planning, supplement review and individual nutrition counseling. Bingham holds a B.S. in nutrition from Boston University, where she was a member of its varsity women’s track and field team. Bingham has a master’s degree in clinical nutrition from New York University and is credentialed as a registered dietitian (RD) and certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). Prior to working at UNC, she was the campus dietitian and sports nutritionist at St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y. Mary Ellen now runs Fuel Forward, LLC. A consultancy focused on performance nutrition. is giving us more and more information to how nutrition can impact health and performance. I always continue to learn and evolve based on science as it also evolves. I hope to further my knowledge and understanding of strength and conditioning and get my CSCS credential to broaden my knowledge base between nutrition and performance.
